thoughts on the draft from a fan of Amy Winehouse

Not a scout. Not even close. I watch game film occasionally. Here are my non-professional, completely opinionated thoughts on the class, put together in less than an hour.

Zaccharie Risacher should not be the first pick. On my big board, (in my head, it’s never on paper) he is around a late lottery pick.

Alexandre Sarr is the best prospect in this draft, and he should be the first overall pick to Atlanta. However, if I were in Sarr’s shoes, and I didn’t want to go to Atlanta, Washington D.C. wouldn’t be a horrible second option. Bilal Coulibaly and Alexandre Sarr in the same frontcourt? The Wizards are back?

Tidjane Salaun to the Spurs at No. 8 seems like the best fit in the entire draft. Love him, and it’s as if Gregg Popovich is Louis XIV the way he’s leading the French.

Why is Ron Holland falling? He should be a top five pick, especially in this draft. There are swaths of basketball media perspectives that I simply cannot understand, and one of them is the general consensus that Ron Holland isn’t worth a top five pick. Please, draft Ron in the first few selections. I beg of thee.

Kyshawn George is severely underrated. Big fan of Kyshawn George and his game, not just because we share a name. Bub Carrington? Him too. Big fan of Bub Carrington.

I am not high on Zach Edey at all, nor am I high on Johnny Furphy. I won’t go into extreme detail, but to me, they are not at the level that scouts report.

Can I call Devin Carter a South Carolina Gamecock? I would like to. I know he was a Friar for two years, but I don’t care. Big fan of Jared McCain and Ja’Kobe Walter, too.

On the topic of international prospects, I’m a huge fan of Melvin Ajinça, Bobi Klintman, Juan Núñez, Adem Bona, the aforementioned Salaun and Sarr, along with Nikola Đurišić

There are so many “sleepers.” I don’t like that term as I think it devalues prospects, but we move onward. As far as these prospects go, I love Jamal Shead, Babacar Sane, Quinn Ellis, Riley Minix, Armel Traore, Ulrich Chomche, Zacharie Perrin, Andrija Jelavić, and Malique Lewis.

Special shoutout to Eric Gaines. Please, I beg some team to sign Eric Gaines. He is so much fun to watch. I love watching Eric Gaines play basketball and then going to the courts to try and dunk like he can. (I can’t.) Love Eric Gaines though.

Special shoutout to Yannick Kraag and Michael Caicedo for being two solid prospects from Catalonia. I have an article coming out soon on the history of basketball in the region.

That’s all from me. Y’all go enjoy the draft.
